KETUBOT
What's a Ketubah?
A Ketubah (Ketubot plural) is a Jewish Wedding Contract signed as part of the wedding ceremony. The Ketubah is so much more than just another contract or just another piece of paper.
The word Ketubah comes from the Hebrew l'chtov, "to write." The Ketubah is literally the written declaration of the couple's marriage, love, and devotion. Traditionally, the Ketubah is displayed and read aloud as part of the wedding ceremony, engaging the congregation as witness to the couple's commitment to the Jewish tradition and to each other.
The life of the Ketubah does not end with the wedding. The ketubah remains a tangible reminder, ornamenting the homes of millions of couples across countries and over centuries, of the couple's enduring love and commitment to tradition and community.
